Prithviraj-Vidya Balan movie Aami to start rolling next month

We had earlier reported that veteran director Kamal will be making a biopic on the life of Malayalam’s legendary writer Madhavikutty.

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will play the lead role in this movie titled as Aami. Prithviraj Sukumaran will also be playing an important role in this movie.

Madhavikutty was a revolutionary writer who was famous for her writings. Madhavikutty was fondly called as Aami by many people. Aami means I in Bengali language.

Madhavikutty aka Kamala Surraya’s life was an open book that was also marred by many controversies. She revolutionized writings with her honest treatment of female sexuality and infused her writing with power.

Vidya Balan is playing the role of Madhavikutty in this movie. Aami will focus more on the personal life of the writer.

The movie’s songs are now being recorded in Ajivasam Studio in Mumbai. There are four songs in the movie out of which two are in Hindi. Famous lyricist Gulzar will be writing the Hindi songs.

Thoufeeq Quershi is the music director for the movie while Oscar award winning sound designer Resul Pookkutty is also part of the movie. Aami is produced by P T Rafel.

Aami also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran playing a pivotal role. Interestingly Vidya Balan’s debut movie was Chakram which had Mohanlal and Dileep in the lead. But the shoot was dropped after sometime only to be made later with Prithviraj playing the lead role.

Murali Gopy and Anoop Menon are also part of the cast. The movie will go on floors from the 18th of next month. Shooting will happen in Kerala, Kolkata and Mumbai.
