Producer reveals that Mammootty has not taken any remuneration for Peranbu

The much-awaited Mammootty starrer Peranbu is hitting screens this Friday (February 1) and fans and cinephiles alike are highly excited about it. The movie directed by Ram tells the story of an affectionate father and his mentally challenged girl child. Mammootty and ‘Thanga Meengal’ fame Sadhana play the lead roles. The movie caught attention after it opened to highly positive reviews in various international film festivals.

Recently, during the promotions of the movie, it was revealed that Mammootty has not taken his pay for the movie. In the interview, when producer PL Thenappan revealed that Mammootty had not taken his remuneration yet, the star replied that not all movies can be done for money.

Peranbu has Mammootty as Amudhavan, a doting helpless father who is concerned about his daughter’s ill health. From the promos itself, it is evident that the movie has one of the actor’s finest performances in recent times. Director Ram had earlier said that he wouldn’t have made the movie if not for Mammootty. When he approached the actor, he didn’t have a proper full fledged script. Despite that, Mammootty was impressed by Ram’s brief narration and gave his nod immediately.

Last day, a special screening of Peranbu was held at PVR Audi 1, Kochi. Prominent celebrities like Nivin Pauly, Joshiy, Ranjith, Renji Panicker, Sibi Malayil, SN Swami, Kamal, Major Ravi, Rosshan Andrrews, Bobby, Sanjay, Ajai Vasudev, Sohan Seenulal, B Unnikrishnan, Ramesh Pisharody, Maqbool Salman, Anu Sithara, Nimisha Sajayan, Lal, Salim Ahmed, Asha Sharath, Anusree, Siju Wilson and Najeem Koya attended the preview show.
