The quality of movies have gone down nowadays : Adoor Gopalakrishnan
National award winning director Adoor Gopalakrishnan has said that the recent culture of an average Malayali can be seen in the kind of movies releasing these days.
The director opened up while inaugurating an event held as part of the 100th anniversary of the Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala in Kozhikode.
Many movies with poor premise and storyline are running successfully for 100-150 days in theatres, while better movies are failing miserably at the box office, said the ace filmmaker.
Adoor Gopalakrishnan said, everyone likes cinema but is still not known whether cinema is an art form or just another business.
Traditional art forms like Kathakali and Koodiyattam have still not been affected by poor tastes but it is not the same in the case of cinema.
The director has won numerous accolades for his contribution to the world of cinema.
Adoor Gopalakrishnan made a comeback to Mollywood after a long gap with Pinneyum starring Dileep and Kavya Madhavan in the lead. He also co-produced the movie. But Pinneyum could not yield commercial success from the box office.
