Rajinikanth starts dubbing for Kaala!!

Superstar Rajinikanth has two releases next year – 2.0 and Kaala. Both the films are in complete contrast to each other. While 2.0 is a big scale sci-fi film, Kaala is a gangster flick based in the Mumbai underworld. The latter marks his reunion with director Pa Ranjith after Kabali.

Shoot for Kabali was wrapped up by the end of last year and was expected to hit screens in April but release got postponed after 2.0 was pushed. Recently, Rajinikanth started dubbing for the movie. Rest of the actors have all completed dubbing for their portions.

Kaala is a proper gangster flick in which Rajinikanth plays a don. The movie is about a guy from Tirunelveli, who runs away in his childhood to Mumbai to become a powerful don living in the slums. He heads the Tamil community in Dharavi. The movie has a strong supporting cast which includes several noted North Indian actors.

Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi is playing the female lead, but she is not paired opposite Rajinikanth. Multiple national award winner Nana Patekar is playing a pivotal role in the movie. Jackie Shroff, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil, Sayaji Shinde, Sakshi Agarwal, Samuthirakani, Sukanya, Ramesh Thilak and Sampath Raj are part of the supporting cast.

Rajinikanth’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush is producing Kaala under his banner Wunderbar Films. Most of the technical crew of Kabali have been retained for Kaala, with only Sreekar Prasad, the veteran, replacing Praveen KL as the editor. Pa Ranjith’s regular Santhosh Narayanan is handling the music department. The release date has not yet been announced.
