Rajinikanth’s ‘Vettaiyan’ Records Phenomenal Opening with Around 70 Crore Global Collection

Rajinikanth’s latest venture, ‘Vettaiyan’, directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Lyca Productions, has stormed the box office with a spectacular debut. The action-packed cop drama, marking Amitabh Bachchan’s Tamil debut, has garnered significant attention across the globe. Shot across diverse locales including Thiruvananthapuram, Tirunelveli, and Mumbai, the film boasts a star-studded cast featuring Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier alongside Rajinikanth.

On its opening day, ‘Vettaiyan’ secured an impressive Rs 35 crore at the Indian box office alone. Early estimates suggest a global opening gross of approximately Rs 70 crores. In Tamil Nadu, the film raked in Rs 19 to 20 crore, marking the second-best opening of 2024 after ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s blockbuster ‘The GOAT’. Across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, it amassed around Rs 9 crore, with Kerala contributing over Rs 4 crore. The rest of India contributed Rs 1.50 crore to the stellar opening figures.
