Rajisha Vijayan to play the female lead in Muttiah Muralitharan biopic

Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan is getting a biopic made in Tamil. The film which is said to be titled as ‘800’ will be directed by MS Sripathi. Vijay Sethupathi will be playing Muralitharan’s role in the film. Buzz is that Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan has been approached to play the female lead’s role.

Muttiah Muralitharan married Chennai-based Madhimalar, daughter of the later doctor Ramamurthy who founded the famous Malar Hospitals. If reports are to be believed, Rajisha will be essaying Madhimalar’s role in the biopic. This will be her second film in Tamil after ‘Karnan’, in which she is paired with Dhanush.

Pre-production works for Muralitharan’s biopic has already begun. Telugu star Rana Daggubati’s banner Suresh Productions is producing the film in association with DAR Motion Pictures. Sam CS of ‘Vikram Vedha’ fame has been signed as the music director. Rest of the cast and crew are yet to be confirmed.
