Rakesh Roshan accuses Shah Rukh Khan for release date clash between Raees and Kaabil

Kaabil is Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming action thriller directed by Sanjay Gupta. Yami Gautham is playing the female lead in this movie.

The actor’s father, director/producer Rakesh Roshan is producing this movie under his home banner Film Kraft Productions.

The movie was initially scheduled to release on Republic Day, January 26.

But when it was announced that the makers of Shah Rukh Khan’s much expected gangster movie Raees are also looking for the same release date, Rakesh Roshan changed the release date of Kaabil to January 25.

The makers of Kaabil tried their best to avert a face off, and shifted their release date to a day earlier than the previously announced.

However during the trailer launch of Raees today, the makers of the movie have announced that the movie will also be releasing on January 25.

Raees is produced by Gauri Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akthar under their banners Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment.

Now, it is reported that the distributors have decided to screen as usual from the morning shows on January 25. Whereas, Kaabil will be screened only from the evening shows.

Apparently, this decision has not gone well with Rakesh Roshan. In an interview he said, “Whatever dates we are taking, they are following us. I would have never done the same.

I belong to an old school of filmmaking and I have given 50 years of my life to the industry. I would never release my film on a day when another filmmaker has already announced their film.”

I decided to remove Krrish 4 also from Christmas 2018 because I saw SRK’s film is coming that day. I could have easily released my film with Befikre or even with Dangal if I had to clash.

But when I announced the film in February, I saw a clean window in January and hence I picked the date. I can’t get into this new groove of things because I don’t understand it.”

The distributors are yet to take an official call on how to tackle this situation.

Such big clashes between two big stars of the same industry will have a big impact on the Box office collections of both the movies indirectly affecting the prospects of the industry.
