A rare Vishu season in Mollywood without Mammootty and Mohanlal films

Mollywood is gearing up for Vishu season and 4 films had already hit the screens as summer releases. They are Prithviraj’s Darwinte Parinamam, Dulquer Salmaan’s Kali, Dileep’s King Liar and Nivin Pauly’s Jacobinte Swargarajyam. But on Vishu day there will not be any Malayalam releases as the Vishu week will be ruled by other language films like Vijay starrer flick Theri and Shahrukh Khan starred flick Fan.

Then on Next week there will be Renjith directorial film Leela and Allu Arjun starrer film Sarainodu. It is a rare Vishu season for Mollywood as this time had no releases from the biggest super stars of Mollywood, Mohanlal and Mammootty.

Mammootty’s White was earlier slated for a Vishu release and later postponed to April last or May first week due to some technical reasons. Mohanlal is busy with some big budget projects which take long time to complete and his next Malayalam release will be Puli Murugan and that will come only in July.

Last year, there was Sathyan Anthikkad’s Ennum Eppozhum for Mohanlal and Siddique’s Bhaskar the Rascal for Mammootty as Vishu releases. In 2014, Mammootty film Gangster was there for Vishu. In 2013, there was Emmanuel and Ladies and Gentleman for Mammootty and Mohanlal respectively. In 2012, Mammootty has Cobra and Mohanlal has Grand Master. In 2011, Mohanlal had China Town, Christian brothers and Mammootty had Doubles as Vishu releases.

April last week will have a flurry of releases in Mollywood as per reports. Prithviraj’s James and Alice and Kunchacko Boban’s Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti will come on April 29 and 28 respectively. But a Vishu eason without the films of their most favorite and biggest stars is not a complete one for Malayalees.
