Rashmika Mandanna to be paired with Vijay in Thalapathy 66

Last day, on the birthday of Rashmika Mandanna, it was announced that the actress will be playing the female lead in Vijay’s next will be helmed by Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally. Tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 66’, the film is produced by Dil Raju and Shirish are producing the film under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations.

Rashmika, one of the busiest actors in the South, is acting alongside Vijay for the first time and their chemistry will be something exciting to look forward to. In the South, the actress has Pushpa: The Rule, and the upcoming Dulquer Salmaan-Hanu Raghavapudi film coming up. She is also doing a couple of Hindi films, Mission Majnu, alongside Siddharth Malhotra, and Goodbye with Amitabh Bachchan.

Meanwhile, ‘Thalapathy 66’ is expected to go on floors soon. The makers are apparently planning to release the film for this year’s December. Director Vamshi Paidipally is known for helming mainstream films like ‘Brindavanam’, ‘Yevadu’ and ‘Oopiri’ (‘Thozha’, in Tamil). His last film ‘Maharshi’ starring Mahesh Babu was a huge commercial success. The film also won the National award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

It will be interesting to see how the director helms the Vijay-starrer. Details regarding its genre, other team members and when shoot begins are expected to be out soon.
