Shane Nigam’s Veyil postponed yet again; New release date out

Shane Nigam’s long delayed film ‘Veyil’ has seen yet another postponing in release. The film, which was planned for release on January 28, 2022 has now been pushed to February 25, 2022. The makers’ initial plan was to release the film on June 4, 2021. Debutant Sarath Menon is directing the film and Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing it.

Besides the delay in release, ‘Veyil’ saw a lot of controversial during its shoot itself. Lead actor Shane Nigam had made severe allegations against producer Joby George of giving him death threats. The producer in turn accused Shane of unprofessional behaviour, which eventually stalled the film’s shoot for a brief period. Works resumed after the intervention of various parties.

However, things worsened when Shane walked out of the location and shaved his hair as a mark of protest against the crew. This eventually lead to the young actor getting a temporary ban from Malayalam film industry. Eventually, all the issues got settled after multiple rounds of discussions with the parties involved. The makers will be hoping that all the struggle and efforts that went behind the making of ‘Veyil’ is worth it.

From the trailer, ‘Veyil’ looks like a coming-of-age story of a youngster named Siddharth. ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Merin Jose Pottackal, James Eliya, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreerekha Sudhi Koppa and many others are part of th cast. At the 51st Kerala State Awards, Sreerekha had won the award for Best Character Actor (Female) for her performance in the film. She plays the role of Shane’s mother in the film.
