Shiva Shivaa: Actor Jai turns music director for his next film!

Tamil actor Jai, popular for his roles in films like ‘Goa’, ‘Subramaniyapuram’ and ‘Raja Rani’, is turning a music director. He is debuting as a composer for his next film to be helmed by Susienthiran. Titled as ‘Shiva Shivaa’, it is an action-packed entertainer on the lines of the director’s earlier films ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ and ‘Pandiyanaadu’.

Prior to the formal announcement, not many knew that Jai had a music background. Deva, one of the most popular music directors of the 90s, is Jai’s uncle. Before turning to acting, Jai was studying western classical at London Trinity College. He was offered the opportunity to act in films when he had just finished his 5th grade at the college.

Jai, in a recent interview, revealed that he has composed around 500 songs on his own. Director Susienthiran happened to learn about Jai’s interest in music and asked him to compose for their new film. Though the actor was initially reluctant, he took up the project after Susienthiran managed to convince him.

For his maiden film as a composer, Jai has used a lot of live instruments. The film has five songs in all and Vairamuthu has penned lyrics for the first track, which is a romantic number. Jai is planning to continue as a composer and aims to become one of the top 10 music directors in the Tamil film industry.
