Suriya wins Filmfare award for his performance in a negative role!
The 64th Jio Filmfare Awards was held yesterday at Hyderabad. The event saw many leading stars from all four South Indian industries walking the red carpet while dancers set the stage on fire with some entertaining numbers.
For the awards in Kollywood, Irudhi Suttru won the major awards including the best director (Sudha Kongara), best actor (R Madhavan) and best actress (Rithika Singh). Suriya won the award for critics best actor for his performance as the antagonist in 24.
24 directed by Vikram Kumar is a science fiction thriller starring Suirya in a triple role. His performance as Athreya, the menacing differently-abled villain was widely appreciated by the critics as well as the common audience.
While speaking after receiving the award, Suriya said “It’s been nine years since I last won a Filmfare award. Tomorrow is Father’s Day and I would be very happy to share this award with my son, who, after seeing the film, kept saying Athreya after coming home.”
He also thanked the director Vikram Kumar and the entire team of 24. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen played the female leads. The movie was produced by Suriya’s own production house 2D Entertainment.
