Thala 59: Nazriya Nazim to return to Kollywood with Ajith’s next?

As reported by us earlier, Ajith’s next (Thala 59) will be directed by H Vinoth of ‘Theeran’ fame. Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, husband of late actress Sridevi, is making his K-Town debut with this movie. As speculated earlier, Thala 59 is the official remake of acclaimed Hindi film, ‘Pink’. The movie directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury is a social-drama that discussed some sensitive issues about women’s rights and dignity.

‘Pink’ had Amitabh Bachchan playing the lead along with Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang. While the movie gets remade in Tamil, Ajith will be reprising Bachchan’s role. There are several rumours about the female leads. Latest is that Nazriya Nazim has been approached to play one of them.

Before getting married to Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya was a hot favorite in Tamil and Malayalam industries. After a four-year-long break post her marriage, the actress made a comeback this year with Anjali Menon’s ‘Koode’. Ever since then, there have been talks about her returning to Kollywood. She still enjoys a huge fan following among the Tamil audience. Though the makers are yet to confrim about her casting, fans are already excited.

According to the makers, Pink’s Tamil version will not be a scene by scene remake. The script has been adapted to suit the sensibilities of the audience. The original film didn’t have any scope for commercial elements, so it remains to be see how the story is being adapted to make it appealing to Ajith fans.
