Thalaivi makers share Arvind Swamy’s new photos on MGR’s death anniversary

‘Thalaivi’, the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, is currently in the post-production phase. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut plays the Jayalalithaa’s role in the film and AL Vijay is directing it. Arvind Swamy is also essaying a major role as MGR. Today, on the death anniversary of MGR, the makers have released some new stills. Sharing the photos in his social media handle, Arvind Swamy wrote,

It was not just an honour to play the role of Puratchi Thalaivar MGR, but a great responsibility. I thank director A.L. Vijay & producers @vishinduri @shaaileshrsingh for having faith in me. I humbly post these pics in Thalaivar’s memory, today.

In the photos, Arvind Swamy looks strikingly similar to the late leader. He had earlier thanked the National-award winning make up artist Pattanam Rasheed for helping him to get as close as possible to the beauty and charm of MGR.

‘Thalaivi’ is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Hindi. Madhubala and Samuthirakani are also essaying major roles in the film. It is scripted jointly by ‘Baahubali’ writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora. The film has Vishal Vittal cranking the camera and music composed by GV Prakash. It is jointly produced by Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.
