Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum to be screened at the Reel Asian Toronto International Film Festival

When Fahadh Faasil and Dileesh Pothan teamed up once again after the national award winning Maheshinte Prathikaram, expectations were sky-high among the cinephiles. Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, their second outing, was released in June this year. Upon release, the movie garnered unanimous appreciation from the critics as well as the commoners.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum has widely been rated as one of the best films that has come out of Indian cinema in the past decade or so. It was in contention to represent India in this year’s Oscar best foreign film category. But eventually, Rajkumar Rao’s Newton was selected for the Oscars.

Now, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum has been selected to be screened at the Reel Asian Toronto International Film Festival. This is truly an incredible achievement for the team behind the movie and a proud moment for Malayalam cinema.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is primarily centered around 3-4 characters. The core plot takes off when a newly married couple encounter a thief during a bus journey. Writer Sajeev Pazhoor and Dileesh Pothan smarty knit a story that discusses the politics of hunger and many other relevant social elements. There are several hard-hitting dialogues in the movie penned by Sajeev and co-writer Syam Pushkaran. Dileesh Pothan’s meticulously detailed film making and the artists’ performance is on par with any international film.

Malayalam cinema and its audience will always be thankful to Dileesh Pothan and his team for giving a gem of a film like Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.
