Twenty years after Iruvar; Mohanlal and Prakash Raj to team up for Odiyan

Mohanlal had recently announced his next movie Odiyan, which is touted to be the most expensive movie to be ever made in Malayalam cinema. It will be directed by popular ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon, who will also be directing the long awaited epic Randamoozham.

Odiyan, apart from Mohanlal will also feature Manju Warrier, Prakash Raj and a leading actor from Bollywood. Prakash Raj and Mohanlal will be sharing screen space in Odiyan, after a gap of twenty years.

The duo last worked together for legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Tamil political drama Iruvar. Prakash Raj won the National award for best supporting actor for his performance in Iruvar while Mohanlal missed a well deserved award by a whisker. According to the director, Prakash Raj is playing an antagonist in Odiyan. His role will be one of the most powerful villain characters that has taken shape so far in the industry.

Prakash Raj, meanwhile is making a comeback to Mollywood after a gap of seven years through Jayaram’s Achayans directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam. He was last seen in Mollywood in Prithviraj’s Anwar back in 2010.

Odiyan is written by national award winning scenarist Harikrishnan. Odiyan is named after a man who is mastered in odividya, a black magic trick to tackle the enemies. It will be a story of love, revenge and myth. Mohanlal’s home production house Aashirvad Cinemas will be funding this movie, which will start rolling on May 25.
