Vidya Balan to pair opposite Rajinikanth?

We had earlier reported that superstar Rajinikanth’s next after Shankar’s sci-fi thriller 2.0, will be with Kabali director Pa Ranjith. The superstar’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush will be producing this movie under his banner Wunderbar Films.

Currently, the pre production works for the movie are going on in full swing. Pa Ranjith is developing the screenplay for the movie. According to latest reports, Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is being considered to play the female lead in this movie.

A source was quoted by the Times of India as saying, “The makers of the film met Vidya Balan recently, and have finalised her as the lead. However, they are still working on the dates, and only then the official agreement would be signed.”

Even during the casting of Kabali, Vidya’s names were doing the rounds before Radhika Apte was roped in to play the female lead.

Though there are reports about the new movie being made as a sequel to Kabali, there is no official confirmation from the makers’ side. Though Kabali could not live up to the expectations of the superstar’s hardcore fans, it was widely acclaimed for his performance. The yet to be titled movie is expected to go on floors in May this year. The team is planning to shoot the movie in Chennai and Mumbai.

Vidya Balan was recently in the news after she walked out of a Malayalam movie directed by veteran filmmaker Kamal. The movie titled as Aami, is a biopic on legendary writer Kamala Surayya’s life. Vidya Balan was initially signed to play the lead character but was later replaced by Manju Warrier after she opted out citing creative differences with the director.
