Vijay Sethupathi joins Vetrimaaran’s next

Vetrimaaran’s new film with Soori as the lead is all set to go on floors. Along with Soori, veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja was supposed to play an important role in it. However due to date issues, Bharathiraja has opted out of the project. Interestingly, Vijay Sethupathi has now replaced him. There are reports about Vijay Sethupathi essaying the part of Soori’s father, but the makers are yet to confirm it.

Last day, Ilaiyaraja began composing works on the film. The maestro has set up his own studio in Chennai after his recent fallout with a private studio where he had been composing music for over four decades. Vetrimaaran, Soori, Bharathiraja and Vijay Sethupathi were present for the first composing session.

Expectations are high on this film with Vijay Sethupathi joining the cast. Vetrimaaran had initially planned to cast him in an important role in ‘Vada Chennai’ but it didn’t work out and it was eventuality played by Ameer.

This upcoming film with Soori and Vijay Sethupathi is based on the short story ‘Thunaivan’ written by Jeyamohan. The story was first published in the magazine, Ananda Vikatan in 1992.
