Violinist Balabhaskar passes away

Popular violinist Balabhaskar, who was critical for over a week after meeting with an accident, has passed away. He breathed his last in the wee hours of Tuesday. He was 40. Balabhaskar’s two-year-old daughter Tejaswini had died soon after the accident. According to reports, his wife, Lakshmi has still not regained consciousness.

The accident occurred on September 25 near Pallipuram when the family was travelling back from Thrissur where they had visited the Vadakkum Nathan temple. Balabhaskar suffered severe head and spine injuries following the accident. Despite multiple surgeries, he had sustained multiple organ failure and was kept on ventilator. Lakshmi too had sustained multiple fractures in different parts of the body and was on ventilator, but is recovering. Their driver Arjun is also under treatment.

Balabhaskar’s death has saddened thousands of his fans across Kerala. Celebrities like Mohanlal, Dulquer Salmaan, Prithviraj, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan expressed their grief in the passing away of the incredibly talented musician. His mortal remains will be kept for the public to pay their last respects. The last rites would take place on Wednesday at his ancestral house in Thirumala, Thiruvananthapuram.
