Wow! Here’s the release date of Mohanlal’s Odiyan

Mohanlal’s Odiyan is arguably one of the most exciting upcoming projects in South Indian cinema. The movie has an unique plot and theme, which has rarely been tried in Indian cinema. It is a fantasy film that will have a mix of action, romance and magical realism.

Odiyan went on floors recently in Varanasi. The team will be shooting here for a few weeks before moving to Palakkad where the art department is erecting sets resembling a village. Odiyan is being directed by renowned ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon. National award winner Harikrishnan has scripted this movie.

An exciting update that we have got now is regarding the movie’s release date. If reports are to be believed, the makers are planning to release Odiyan on March 30, 2018. They are planning to release it on a huge scale as the biggest ever for a Malayalam movie.

The movie is primarily about Odividya, a black magic pratcie, and people who practice it, who are called Odiyan. There are a lot of stories and myths about Odiyans and their life in Kerala’s folklore. Mohanlal is playing the role of Odiyan Manikyan. In the movie, Mohanlal’s character goes through the age of 30 to 65 and will be seen in multiple looks. The movie happens in three different eras starting from the pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000.

Odiyan Manikyan is someone who is mastered in Odividya. He is a fabulous athelete who can take any shape, can crawl and also run at high speed. Peter Hein, who choreographed the amazing stunts in Pulimurugan, has been roped in to train Mohanlal for playing this challenging character of Odiyan Manikyan.

Odiyan also stars Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj in prominent roles. Shaji Kumar is wielding the camera and Sreekar Prasad will handle the edits. M Jayachandran is handling the music department. Art director Prashanth Madhav and his team is creating the set of a fictional village in Thenkurissi. Mohanlal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas is funding this big budget movie. Palakkad, Pollachi, Hyderabad and Varanasi have been finalized as the major locations.
