Yoodle Films picks up Kaapa

Shoot for the Shaji Kailas directorial ‘Kaapa’ ia currently underway. The film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali and Anna Ben as the leads is touted to be an action-packed crime thriller. Jinu V Abraham and Dolwin Kuriakose are producing the film for Theatre of Dreams and Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Writers Union. It is the first ever film to be backed by FEFKA Writers Union.

Yoodle Films, the film division of Saregama, a leading music label owned by the RP- Sanjiv Goenka Group of companies, has now joined the production of ‘Kaapa’. They first forayed into Malayalam film industry by backing the upcoming Nivin Pauly-starrer ‘Padavettu’. They are also backing Tovino’s upcoming film ‘Anveshippin Kandethum’, besides signing a multi-project deal with him. The banner is also teaming up with Prithviraj for his maiden web series. He will be directing and acting in the Hindi series based on ‘Biscuit King’ Rajan Pillai.

About producing ‘Kaapa’, Siddharth Anand Kumar, Saregama’s Films & Events Vice President, said in a statement, “With Kaapa we are excited to get into the action thriller genre. Prithviraj & Shaji Kailas do not need any introduction and this film is going to push the mass narrative envelope even further. We have the privilege of working with some of the finest actors, directors, and technicians in the Malayalam film industry and we are sure of packing a punch.”

‘Kaapa’, scripted by novelist Indugopan based on one of his stories, is touted to be an action thriller centered around gangsters in Thiruvananthapuram city.
