Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya Review

Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya was one of the releases in Mollywood today starring Unni Mukundan. The film is scripted by Abhilash Sreedharan and directed by debutant named Sajan K Mathew. Popular film producer Siyad Kokker had produced this film under the banner of Kokkers film. The film had attracted the attention of the film lovers here first with its unique title and then with its trailer. The title is taken from the lyrics of one of the most popular song from the movie Manichithrathazhu starred by Mohanlal and Shobhana. That itself helped the film to get an attention from the film lovers in Kerala. The trailer released later also generated good opinion from all around.

The plot of the film revolves around the character named Prakashan played by Unni Mukundan. He is the main electrician in the village and he is also very active in all activities like arts, sports etc going on in the village. Prakashan loves a girl named Aswathy played by Sanusha. But before he tells his love to her, another girl named Parvathy enter to his life accidently and that entry really turns his life. Parvathy was misunderstood by the villagers as the wife of Prakashan and even his family members did not believed his words. From that moment the film really starts to move forward.

We have to say that debutant Sajan K Mathew had disappointed as he failed to provide a good movie experience with his maiden venture. The film follows a narrative pattern which involves fantasy elements in it. But the screenplay by Abhilash Sreedharan and narration by Sajan had failed to convince the audience about the events in the story. Even though screenplay lacked depth, the dialogues were hilarious at places. They created some interesting situations in the plot but failed to make use of the possibilities it opened before them. The first half of the film was better compared to the second half. In the post-interval part, the director seems to have lost his control over the screenplay and the narration.

Unni Mukundan had given is all to the film. He was looking very handsome with that beard and given a matured performance as Prakashan. He showed the innocence Prakashan has with ease and this one is undoubtedly one of the best performances we got from him. Sanusha and Prayaga Martin did a great job as well. Sanusha was charming and she once again given a natural portrayal of her character. Prayaga Martin also did a fine job as Parvathy and her chemistry with Unni Mukundan was very good.

Artists like Aju Varghese, Biju Kuttuan, Tini Tom, Sudhi Koppa, Kochu Preman, Saddiq, Narayanan Kutty, Bindhu Panicker, Seema G Nair etc also done their character decently. Vinu Thomas had given us some beautiful songs and Dhanesh Raveendhran’s cinematography also provided some good frames for this film. But the visualization of the songs could have been better.

On the whole, Oru Mural Vanthu Parthaya is failed experiment as they tried to make a Village based Fantasy-Romantic-Comedy without a compact screenplay. The film holds up till the end only because of the energetic performance of the artists in it and at some part they too were helpless.
