Oru Vadakkan Selfie Review

At last one of the much awaited flick Oru Vadakkan Selfie got released today. This was much awaited ever since the projects has been announced and the factor which made this film that much an anticipated one is that the team of Vineeth Sreenivasan and Nivin Pauly. Whenever Vineeth Sreenivasan and Nivin Pauly had joined hands the result was great success. Their first association was Malarvadi Arts Club through which both Vineeth (as a director and script writer) and Nivin Pauly(as an actor) had made their debut in mollywood. That was a super hit film and they just begun with style. Then comes the blockbuster f this team, Thattathin Marayathu which had become one of the trendsetting love story ever made in mollywood. That film is the one which gave a star image to actor Nivin Pauly and from then on he never have to stop and look back.

The plot of the film revolves around a character named Umesh who has failed in his engineering exam and then comes to his village. He and his friend plans to do a short film, but it ends in disaster. Later when become aware that he had failed in the supplementary exams he decides to run away from his village to Chennai as he fears his father and on the way he had a short encounter with a girl who is his neighbor. He took a selfie with her without her knowledge and send it to his friends for showing off. But that becomes a turning point in his life as the girl went missing from that day and suspicion falls on him as he was the last one who saw her and took that selfie with her stating to his friends that she was his lover. Fromm there the film showcases the interesting events happening in his and his friend’s life who accompanies him to find her.

The trailer and songs of the film which had become viral in social networking Medias gave us a feel about what may be the impact of the film. But it was more than that we saw in the trailer as the film entirely follows a different path from what we saw in the trailer and the makers also made a good effort to give a message to the society, specially to young people who fell in the trap of online love relations etc.

It was an out and out fun filled enjoyable journey for the spectators and it will not disappoint anybody. The backbone of the film is the terrific screenplay by Vineeth Sreenivasan who did a key role in the film as well. Each and every scene written by Vineeth carries feel good energy in it and the main thing is that the audience gets it. And the debutant Prajith made his maiden venture in direction a memorable one with precise sense of visuals and in fact he made the script look more and more shining with his great visual sense.

Another important factor is the music of Shan Rahman. He is just rocked the show with his mind blowing numbers. It was a real comeback from Shan after Om Shanti Oshana. And the DOP by Jomon T John was always great to watch and this time too he made it perfect with his great skill. When it comes to the department of actors, it’s a real team effort. Nivin Pauly as usual in his charming best, then Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav and Manjima Mohan etc are made their part to perfection and never looked out of place. And we can say it with full confidence that Oru Vadakkan Selfie is a film which you can watch it with your family and friends which will give you a great time in cinema halls.
