96 Telugu remake: Watch Jaanu teaser here!

’96’, the Tamil blockbuster film starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha is getting remade in Telugu as ‘Jaanu’. Its teaser got release online just a while back. Sharwanand and Samantha are playing the lead roles in the film. C Prem Kumar, who directed ’96’, is helming the Telugu version as well. The director’s touch is very evident as this teaser is almost exactly similar to the Tamil one. Thankfully, Govind Vasantha has composed a new tune rather than reworking on the already popular ‘Kaathale Kaathale’ song.

’96’ is unarguably one of the most sensational blockbusters in South Indian cinema in recent years. The film tells a poignant tale of two childhood sweethearts who get to meet after two decades for a school reunion. From the teaser, ‘Jaanu’ looks like a scene by scene remake of ’96’. Since the story has an universal appeal, the Telugu version is also expected to do well. Gouri G Kishan, who played Trisha’s younger version in the original, is reprising the same role.

Similarly, the same technical team from ’96’ comprising of DOP Mahendiran Jayaraju, composer Govind Vasantha and editor Praveek KL have been retained. Dil Raju of Sri Venkateswara Creations is producing ‘Jaanu’.
