67th National Film Awards
67th National Film Awards announcement to be delayed!
The 67th National Film Awards was supposed to be announced officially in May. However, due to the spread of Corona pandemic, it has been postponed indefinitely. Generally, a jury of eminent filmmakers and film personalities is brought together to evaluate the films that are sent for submission. As per reports in National medias, the jury members for this year have not yet been formed. The process of bringing together a jury panel from across the country was supposed to start much earlier but due to the Corona virus scare, it had to be be put on hold.
Every year, the National film awards are announced on May 3. It was in 2012 that May 3 was announced as the designated date for holding the awards distribution ceremony every year, commemorating the day India’s first full-length feature film, Dadasaheb Phalke’s ‘Raja Harishchandra’, was released way back in 1913. Last year, the awards was delayed owing to the general elections. The winners were announced in August while the ceremony took place in December.
This year, it remains to be seen what decision is taken regarding a selection process and the ceremony as the whole country is working towards stopping the spread of Corona virus.
