Bigil takes phenomenal opening at Tamil Nadu box office; Vijay films hold top 3 positions!

As expected, Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ is off to a box office rampage. The film has taken a massive opening worldwide with figures estimated to be over Rs 40 crore on day 1. In Tamil Nadu, the film has grossed approximately Rs 26 cr, which makes it the second biggest opener in the state. The exact figures are not yet out officially.

While Trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai has tweeted,

Interestingly, all top 3 positions in the best openers in Tamil Nadu are held by Vijay films. ‘Sarkar’ leads the list with a gross of around 31 crores. ‘Mersal’ occupies third position in the list followed by ‘Kabali’ and ‘Viswasam’. It clearly shows the kind of absolute dominance that Vijay enjoys in the box office and why he is the true, indisputable king of opening.
