Congress President Rahul Gandhi meets ‘Kaala’ director Pa Ranjith

Congress President Rahul Gandhi recently met Tamil filmmaker Pa. Ranjith in Delhi to talk about his films and political ideologies. Actor Kalaiyarasan was also present during the meet. Sharing photos from their meet, Rahul Gandhi tweeted,

I met film director P A Ranjith the man behind blockbuster films like Madras, Kabali and Kaala and actor Kalaiyarasan, in Delhi yesterday. We talked about politics, films and society. I enjoyed the interaction and look forward to continuing our dialogue.

Pa Ranjith is one of the most wanted filmmakers in Kollywood at present. Despite being just four-film-old, the director has carved a niche for himself with his works that have strong political subtexts. Except for his debut film, Attakathi, all his other movies – Madras, Kabali and Kaala – discussed in detail about the plight of the oppressed community and the cast-class inequalities prevalent in our society.

Pa Ranjith’s recently released Kaala starring Rajinikanth was loaded with criticisms on the ruling Narendra Modi government and their controversial policies like Digital India and Swach Bharat. After his recent meeting with Rahul Gandhi, there is a buzz in social medias going around about the possibility of something brewing between the two. Stay tuned.
