Indrajith plays MGR in Gautham Menon’s version of Jayalalithaa biopic!!

We had recently reported about Gautham Menon directing a web series based on the life of late Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa. Apparently, shoot for the same has already started without much fanfare. Ramya Krishnan is playing Jayalalithaa’s role while Malayali actor Indrajith Sukumaran essays the part of MGR. Vamshi Krishna is playing the role of late actor Sobhan Babu, who was rumoured to have had a relationship with Jayalalithaa.

Indrajith is among the very few Malayali actors to explore the web series space. Earlier, Neeraj Madhav was signed to play a major role in the Amazon series, The Family Man. Filmmakers across the world have been exploring the possibilities of this medium for a long while now. While several interesting series’ are being made in the North, filmmakers down South have still not been able to make a mark in the digital arena.

Gautham Menon’s daring attempt to make a web series on Tamil Nadu’s most popular political leader is sure to inspire others. It is being made as a web series as it will be very difficult to capture Jayalalithaa’s illustrious life in a 3-hour-long movie. The series reportedly has about 20 episodes. A leading production house is behind the project and it will be officially announced with a teaser release.
