Lucifer Telugu version to be directed by Saaho fame Sujeeth

Last year, during the Kerala promotions of ‘Syee Raa Narasimha Reddy’, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi had revealed about acquiring the remake rights of Malayalam blockbuster ‘Lucifer’. Chiranjeevi will be reprising the role played by Mohanlal in the original. While it was speculated that hit maker Sukumar will be directing the Telugu version, latest reports suggest that Sujeeth of ‘Saaho’ fame will be helming it. Actor Ram Charan will be producing the film. Shoot is most likely to kick-start after the Corona crisis ends.

‘Lucifer’ written by Murali Gopy and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran is currently the highest grossing Malayalam film. Releasing last March, the film took a sensational opening at the box office and shattered all possible records of a Malayalam film, which includes becoming the first to enter the elite 200 crore club. Apart from all the commercial gains, ‘Lucifer’ was also a critically appreciated film. The makers have already informed that ‘Lucifer’ will be a trilogy. The second part ‘Empuraan’ is planned to go on floors early next year.

It will be really interesting to see how the Telugu version is adapted to make it appealing it to the native audience.
