Malikappuram Team’s Horror Comedy ‘Sumathi Valavu’ Locks May 2025 Release

The upcoming Malayalam horror-comedy Sumathi Valavu, featuring Arjun Ashokan in the lead, is all set to arrive in theaters on May 8, 2025. Directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar, known for Malikappuram, the film is currently wrapping up its final production phase.

Scripted by Abhilash Pillai, Sumathi Valavu unfolds in the 1990s and takes inspiration from an eerie folklore rooted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The story revolves around a mysterious, haunted location believed to be under the protection of Sumathi, a Tamil woman’s spirit, adding suspense and intrigue to the narrative.

The movie features a strong supporting cast, including Balu Varghese, Gokul Suresh, Saiju Kurup, and Siddharth Bharathan, alongside Shravan Mukesh, Nandu, Manoj KU, Sreejith Ravi, and Bobby Kurian. Produced by Waterman Films LLP in collaboration with Murali Kunnumpurath, the film aims to deliver a gripping mix of thrills and laughter.

A recently released motion poster, showcasing a bullock cart navigating a shadowy forest path, hints at the film’s eerie atmosphere. With its unique concept and a promising team, Sumathi Valavu is gearing up to be a must-watch horror-comedy this summer.
