Navarasa: Suriya plays a singer in Gautham Menon’s next?

Suriya is currently shooting for his new film with director Gautham Vasudev Menon. It is a short segment as part of the upcoming Netflix anthology ‘Navarasa’. A few location stills have just been shared online. In one of the photos, Suriya is seen holding a microphone and looks like a performing artist. This has lead to speculations among fans that the star is playing a singer’s role.

Earlier in one of his interviews, director Gautham Menon had opened up about his plans to make a musical romantic flick with Suriya as a musician. It will be interesting to see if this is the same project which was initially planned as a feature film. In the new location stills, Suriya looks dapper in a long haired get up. The actor had been sporting it from the lockdown days and Gautham Menon asked him to retain it as it suits the character.

Expectations are high as Suriya and Gautham Menon are teaming up after a 12-year-long gap. The combo’s previous two films, ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ and ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ were big hits that proved to be a game changer in Suriya’s career.

‘Navarasa’ also has films by directors Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, KV Anand, Ponram, Rathindran Prasad, Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar and Halitha Shameem. The cast includes Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Revathy, Nithya Menen, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Siddharth, Aishwarya Rajesh, Poorna, Rythvika, Prakash Raj, Gautham Karthik, Prasanna, Bonny Simha, Vikranth and Ashok Selvan.
