New release date announced for Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe

Superstar Rajnikanth’s ‘Annaatthe’ has got a new release date. The makers have announced that the film will be releasing on November 4, 2021 during the Diwali season. Directed by Siva, the film is expected to be a mass entertainer aimed at the family audience. Sun Pictures is producing the film.

‘Annaatthe’ was originally scheduled to hit screens last Diwali but the pandemic forced a change in plans. The team was on a break for almost 8 months before resuming works in December. However, they once again faced an issue when 8 crew members test positive for Covid-19. Few days after that, Rajinikanth was also admitted in the hospital due to some health issues. This has forced the makers to halt shoot until the situation gets better.

‘Annaatthe’ is said to be a rural-based film on the lines of his previous blockbuster film ‘Viswasam’ with prominence to family emotions. Unconfirmed reports suggest that it is the story of an endearing brother-sister relationship. Rajinikanth and Keerthy Suresh are said to be playing siblings in the film while Nayanthara will be seen as the superstar’s pair. Meena, Khushbu, Bala, Prakash Raj, Soori and many others are part of the supporting cast. D Imman is composing the music.
