Official: Rajinikanth’s next is with Karthik Subbaraj!

Superstar Rajinikanth is awaiting the release of two of his movies this year – Kaala and 2.0. While Kaala is slated for release on April 27, an announcement regarding 2.0 has not yet been made. Meanwhile, a breaking announcement about Rajinikanth’s new project has been made today.

Superstar will teaming up with the highly promising young filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj for his next movie after Kaala. Sun Pictures, who is making a comeback with the upcoming Vijay-Murugadoss movie, will be producing this one as well. The announcement came is a huge surprise via Sun TV’s official Twitter handle today.

Karthik Subbaraj is just a three-film-old director but all his movies have been path breaking attempts which went on to garner widespread acclaim. His debut movie ‘Pizza’ starring Vijay Setupathi was a mystery thriller while his second film ‘Jigarthanda’ was a musical-gangster flick. The latter won a couple of National awards including best supporting actor for Bobby Simha.

Karthik’s ‘Iraivi’ is widely regarded as one of the finest female-oriented movies of all time in Tamil cinema. His next release Mercury, is a silent film starring Prabhudeva in the lead. The movie is slated for release on April 13. The director has often expressed his wish to work with superstar Rajinikanth and it is now a dream come true moment for him.
