Official: Tovino Thomas roped in as villain for Dhanush’s Maari 2!!

Riding on a string of successful films, Tovino Thomas has established himself as one of the most bankable actors in Mollywood. The young star has a lost list of projects lined up in his kitty which also includes his Tamil debut, Abiyum Anuvum. The big news that is coming in now is that Tovino will be playing the villain role opposite Dhansuh in Maari sequel.

Maari, directed by Balaji Mohan was released in 2015. The action-comedy drama had Dhanush playing the titular role. Playback singer Vijay Yesudas made his acting debut in Tamil by playing the antagonist in the movie. Despite releasing amid huge hype, the movie could emerge only as a mediocre success. It is not common for an average grosser to have a sequel but Maari, the character, and Anirudh’s music was a rage among the youngsters which inspired the makers for a sequel.

With Tovino set to lock horns with Dhanush, we can expect a very interesting battle this time around. It is worth a mention that Tovino’s upcoming two Malayalam movies – Tharangam and Maradona – is being produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Studios. The same banner is also producing Maari 2.

Both Tovino and Dhanush have multiple projects in their kitty. The former is awaiting the release of Tharangam, which is all set to hit screens this coming Friday (September 29).
