Petta bookings opened; Massive opening guaranteed

Tamil Nadu box office is all set to witness a massive clash this Pongal season. Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam are releasing on the same day (January 10) and the excitement around is humongous. Pre-release bookings have already opened and trade experts firmly believe a huge opening is on cards. However, an opening like Sarkar or 2.0 is not likely to be there due to the big clash.

Trade analyst Kaushik LM has tweeted,

Due to the competition and split of shows – #Petta #Viswasam gross numbers won’t be in the range of recent biggies (mostly solo) like #2Point0 #Sarkar #Kaala #Mersal – Tkt prices have also marginally reduced post GST reduction. Gross will be lowered

Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj has tremendous pre-release hype. Expectations are sky-high after the super impressive posters and teaser. Anirudh Ravichander’s songs have also emerged as chart busters. Along with Rajinikanth, the movie has Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar, Megha Akash and Mahendran in major roles.

Kalanithi Maran is producing Petta under the banner of Sun Pictures.
