Suriya and Bobby Deol’s ‘Kanguva’ Faces Legal Setback; Reliance Entertainment Seeks to Block Release
The much-anticipated fantasy action film Kanguva, starring Suriya and Bobby Deol, has hit an unexpected legal roadblock ahead of its November 14, 2024 release. As per a report from Indiaglitz, producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja, who heads Studio Green, is facing legal action initiated by Reliance Entertainment due to a financial dispute over an unpaid loan of Rs 55 crore. This loan reportedly dates back to financing for the films Teddy and Thangalaan, starring Arya and Chiyaan Vikram, respectively.
According to the complaint, Reliance Entertainment has approached the Chennai High Court, requesting that the court halt Kanguva’s theatrical release and restrict the streaming release of Thangalaan until the outstanding amount is settled. Studio Green has reassured the court that both Kanguva and Thangalaan will adhere to their original release schedules, providing temporary relief for the filmmakers. Justice Kumaresh Babu has adjourned the hearing to November 7, leaving fans anxiously awaiting further developments.
Originally set for October 10, Kanguva’s release was shifted to avoid clashing with Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan. Fans are now hoping the legal troubles won’t cause additional delays for the eagerly awaited release.
