Suriya to make his OTT debut with Mani Ratnam’s web series!

Netflix and Amazon Prime, argubaly the two leading OTTs in Indian market, are trying to carve a niche in the Tamil entertainment industry. While Netflix is already making a four-part anthology with honour killing as the theme, Amazon is coming up with a full fledged web series.

Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam will be headlining the project, which is said to be a 9-episode series. Along with Mani Ratnam, popular directors like Bejoy Nambiar, Karthick Naren and Gautham Menon are also associated with it. Actors Arvind Swamy and Siddharath will also be making their directorial debut.

If latest reports are to be believed, Suriya will be making his entry to OTT space with this web series. His segment will be directed by Jayendra Panchapakesan of ‘180’ fame. Shoot will supposedly kick-start as soon as the lockdown ends and permissions are granted.

Apparently, the series is based on the Navarasas, the 9 human emotions. The nine emotions included in Navarasa are Shringara (love/beauty), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (sorrow), Raudra (anger), Veera (heroism/courage), Bhayanaka (terror/fear), Bibhatsya (disgust), Adbutha (surprise/wonder), and Shantha (peace or tranquility).

An official word is expected to be out soon.
