Vetrimaaran’s Vaadivaasal Starring Suriya to Be Made in Three Parts?

The much-anticipated film Vaadivaasal, directed by Vetrimaaran and starring Suriya, is reportedly being planned as a trilogy. The project, which was announced nearly two years ago, is based on the Tamil novel Vaadivaasal and is inspired by the historic Jallikattu protests of 2017. Known for tackling social issues with depth, Vetrimaaran has already raised expectations about how he will portray the cultural and emotional significance of Jallikattu in this film.

The film’s initial promo, featuring Suriya gripping a bull in the Vaadivaasal arena, stirred immense excitement among fans. However, the project faced delays as Vetrimaaran focused on his Viduthalai duology starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori. Now, with the release of Viduthalai Part 2 on December 20, 2024, Vadivasal is set to move into production. Reports suggest that Vetrimaaran has completed the screenplay for all three parts, with graphics work already underway in London.

Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu has hinted at a significant update by Pongal, after a meeting with Suriya, who is currently abroad. Meanwhile, Suriya’s upcoming projects include Retro with Karthik Subbaraj and a film directed by RJ Balaji, ensuring a busy lineup for the star. Fans eagerly await more details on Vaadivaasal.
