After Vimaanam, Prithviraj to start shooting for Detroit Crossing aka Ranam

Prithviraj, as always is a busy man with multiple projects in his kitty. The actor recently finished shooting his portions for debutant Pradeep M Nair’s Vimaanam. He will next start working on Detroit Crossing aka Ranam, directed by another newcomer Nirmal Sahadev.

It is being planned as an ambitious English-Malayalam crossover project. The Malayalam version has been titled as Ranam. Mamta Mohandas plays the female lead in this movie touted to be dark neo-noir thriller. The movie is entirely set in Detroit, Michigan and will showcase the lives of the immigrant community.

It will be a neo-noir kind of movie with the city having a lot of importance in the plot. Since the movie is based on Tamil street gangs, it will feature noted actors like Ashwin Kumar and Sampath Raj in pivotal roles.

Prithviraj will be seen as a Tamil street gang member in the movie, which is inspired by real-life incidents. He will be portraying a grey shaded role and Mamta will be seen in an equally important role, a strong and mature character that has several shades and layers.

Detroit Crossing will have most of its crew from the US. Cinematography will be handled by Lukasz Pruchnik who previously worked in Fahadh Faasil’s Monsoon Mangoes. D16 fame Jakes Bejoy has been roped in to handle the music department. The movie is being produced by Anand Kumar Payyanur under the banner of Yes Cinema Company.
