The Zoya Factor: Dulquer Salmaan in Sonam Kapoor’s next!

Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan is establishing himself as a pan-Indian actor with a handful of films in various languages. Even before the release of his debut Hindi film ‘Karwaan’, Dulquer has reportedly bagged his next. As per latest reports, the actor has signed for the big screen adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s 2008 novel The Zoya Factor.

The novel revolves around a PR executive Zoya Singh Solanki, who was born on the exact moment when Indian had lifted the 1983 World Cup. During an assignment, she is invited by the Indian national cricket team to have breakfast with them. When they win the match that day, the team, as well as the media, hail Zoya as the lucky charm. The team starts considering her a lucky charm leading up to the 2010 world cup win of the team. But, the captain, Nikhil Khoda doesn’t believe in luck and relies on performance. Zoya keeps clashing with the Indian skipper, and what follows is a love-hate relationship.

Apparently, Dulquer has been signed to play the Indian captain’s role in the movie while Sonam Kapoor will be seen as the main protagonist. Abhishek Sharma will be directing this movie. The rights to adapt the novel have been bagged by Aarti and Pooja Shetty. Last year, Sonam confirmed being a part of the movie through her Twitter handle. An official announcement with other cast and crew details is expected to be made in the coming days and shoot is likely to start this summer.

Meanwhile, Dulquer’s maiden Hindi outing Karwaan, that also stars Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar, and is gearing up for release. He was also supposed to play one of the leads in Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyan, but was replaced by Abhishek Bachchan recently.
