Kakshi Amminippilla: A neatly packaged entertainer

Kakshi Amminippilla: A neatly packaged entertainer

Asif Ali starrer ‘Kakshi Amminippilla’ has hit screens today (June 28). The movie is directed by debutant Dinjith Ayyathan and scripted by Sanilesh Shivan. Shajith Kumar Amminippilla (Ahmed Siddique) is an introvert who is forced into marriage by his parents. His wife Kanthi Sivadasan (Fara Shibla) is on the heavier side, which Shajith Kumar cites as a problem and calls for a divorce just days after their marriage. Enter advocate Pradeepan Manjodi (Asif Ali), a political aspirant who is initially reluctant but later takes up the divorce case. This is the core part of the story.

Through this movie, the makers have tried to address some relevant issues like good parenting, the need for couples knowing each other before getting married and the importance of understanding in a marital life. The performances of the lead cast is effective, especially that of debutante Fara Shibla. It is not often that we see female actors going the extra yard and putting in additional efforts to meet the demands of a character. For this movie, Shibla has put on around 20 kilos for playing the character of Kanthi Sivadasan. Apart from her physical efforts, she has also presented the character’s emotions very convincingly.

Asif Ali’s character was less challenging considering his last few outings. The Thalassery accent was probably the only thing that must have posed as a challenge, but he handled it really well. Ahmed Siddique also had a meaty role to perform but he was good only in parts. The movie has a big supporting cast comprising of Basil Joseph, Nirmal Palazhy, Sudheesh, Mamukkoya, Sreekanth Murali, Sivadas Kannur, Lukman, Aswathy Manoharan, Sarayu Mohan and many others.

On the technical side, Arun Muraleedharan and Samuel Aby have composed the songs while background score is done by Jakes Bejoy. Bahul Ramesh has handled the camera and edits are by Sooraj ES. The movie has some interesting songs that captures the essence of Thalassery’s culture. Among the songs, the best one was the romantic track ‘Aval’, which was rendered by Harisankar and composed by Arun Muraleedharan.
