Shubharathri Review: Siddique and Dileep shine in this feel-good film

‘Shubharathri’, written and directed by Vyasan KP has hit screens today. The movie stars Dileep and Siddique in the lead roles. Abraham Mathew of Abaam Movies has produced the movie. As the makers had publicised earlier, it is based on a real life incident. The story is centered around Mohammed (Siddique), a do-gooder Muslim man who is getting ready for Hajj pilgrimage. The day before his journey, he encounters an unexpected situation through which Krishnan (Dileep) comes into his life. How things shape up to eventually reach a rewarding climax is what this 2.10 hour film is all about.

Shubharathri Review Report Hit Or Flop

Director Vyasan KP has treated this film as a feel-good film that has an overdose of melodrama. It is basically about religious harmony and the need for compassion. Siddique holds bulk of the scene time in this movie. The veteran actor has delivered a delicately measured performance that’s easily among his finest to date. Emotional roles have always been his forte and so, Mohammed was safe in his hands. Dileep’s Krishnan comes into the narrative only in the latter half. It is not the regular jovial, carefree roles that Dileep is known for. The character demanded him to rely on his emotional historicis and he has played it effectively.

‘Shubharathri’ has quite a big supporting cast. While Anu Sithara is paired with Dileep, Shanthi Krishnan essays the role of Siddique’s wife. Asha Sarath appears in a brief cameo role. Sheelu Abraham, Nadirshah, Indrans, Nedumudi Venu, Sai Kumar, Prashanth Alexander, Vijay Babu, KPAC Lalitha and Suraj Venjaramoodu make their presence felt.

Shubharathri Review Report Hit Or Flop

Alby’s cinematography is adequate and Bijibal has composed some good tracks. However, the same cannot be said about the background score that adds further to the melodrama.

Overall, ‘Shubharathri’ is a feel-good film that has plenty of emotions and carries a good message as well.
