Vijay Sethupathi in Muttiah Muralidharan biopic; Watch the motion poster of 800 here!

It has been officially announced that Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi will be starring in the biopic of legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan. The film has been titled as ‘800’ and it will be directed by MS Sripathi. An intriguing motion poster has been released online. It has glimpses of Murali’s early life as a Tamilian living in Sri Lanka, the nation’s civil war, his entry to cricket, the troubles he had to go through for his bowling action, the terrorist attack in Pakistan etc.

Muttiah Muralitharan is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers to have played the game of cricket. A Tamilian by birth, Murali was born and brought up in Sri Lanka. He made his cricketing debut in 1992 and played international cricket till 2011. Even after 9 years of his retirement, he still holds the world record for the most number of wickets in both test (800) and one-day international cricket (534). ‘800’ looks like a proper biopic that will be covering all the major chapters in his life.

Muralitharan is married to Chennai-based Madhimalar, daughter of the founder of Malar Hospitals. Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan has been signed to play Madhimalar’s role in the biopic. Sam CS of ‘Vikram Vedha’ fame is the music director and RD Rajasekhar will be handling the camera.

The biopic has been planned to be made in Tamil and released in several other languages. Movie Train Motion Pictures is producing the film jointly with DAR Motion Pictures.
