Dhanush to star in the Tamil remake of Akshay Kumar’s Padman?
Akshay Kumar’s latest release PadMan is doing great bussiness at the box office. The movie has been getting highly positive reviews by the critics received and the common audience. Directed by Balki, Padman is inspired from the real life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a Tamil social activist who made low cost sanitary pads.
Akshay Kumar played Arunachalam’s role but the movie was set in Madhya Pradesh. The makers chose MP as the location as they felt the need to adress such a critical issue was more relevant in a backward state. The real life Padman Arunachalam was asked by many about why he let the movie to be made in Hindi and not in his own language.
Arunachalam felt that the story and its message would reach to more people only if it was made in Bollywood. Akshay Kumar is a big star and the movie naturally reached out to a wide audience.
Recently, there were reports about Padman getting remade in other languages. Talks are going on to remake it in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, but nothing has been finalized yet. Certain reports suggest that Dhanush is being considered to star in the Tamil version.
Recently, in an interview Arunachalam was asked about who he feels suitable to play his character in Tamil version. He said, “I think Dhanush would be apt to do the role. I would love to see him play the lead role if the film has a Tamil version.”
It will be very interesting if such a remake really materializes. Like Akshay, Dhanush is also a fabulous performer and he will try to give his best for the movie.
