Drishyam going to International level with SriLankan remake
Drishyam still continues with its impact and it is still making some space for it in the news even after it has been almost 2 years since its release and unbelievable success. This Mollywood film starred by superstar Mohanlal and directed and written by master film mMaker Jeethu Joseph had really made great impact in Indian cinema as a whole.
The film had become the first Malayalam film to enter in to the 40, 50 and 60 crore club of Mollywood and also it is the film which had a done a total business around 75 crores in Mollywood. It is still at the top without being threatened. The film had remade in four other Indian languages as well and become a success there as well. But now, it is going international level with a SriLankan language remake of the film.
As per reports the film being remade in Sinhalese language by Cheyyar Ravi and popular SriLankan actor Jackson Anthony playing the male lead of the remake. Cheyyar Ravi is popular for his highly appreciated Tamil movie named Harichandra and Jackson Anthony is popular for his films like Kusa Pabha in SriLanka. As per reports, the filming is already started and it is going on in a swift pace in places in and around lanka.
The film has been noted for its screenplay and direction by Jeethu Joseph and the mesmerizing performance by Mohanlal. Later it remade to Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. In Tamil Kamal Haasan played the lead role and in Hindi Ajay Devgun played the lead. In Telugu Venkitesh had played the male lead. Jeethu Joseph himself directed the Tamil version as well.
In all languages the film becomes a success and for Mollywood Drishyam had become a classic. It had opened up rest of India and great overseas market as well for Malayalam cinema and attracted the eyes of all film industries to Mollywood. If we are not wrong, it may be the first Malayalam film as well which gets an international remake and Drishyam had done it in style.
