Mammootty opens up about the Tamil films he enjoyed watching in 2018
After almost a decade-long gap, Malayalam superstar Mammootty has made his return to Tamil cinema with the Ram directorial ‘Peranbu’. The movie got released last Friday and has opened to unanimously positive reviews. Critics and common audience alike have been showering praise on the veteran for his subtly powerful performance. Going by popular opinion, he will be a strong contender for quite a few awards this year.
Recently, Mammootty had attended the Vikatan awards ceremony in connection with the promotions of ‘Peranbu’. The function was hosted by actors Siva and Sathish. When the former asked Mammootty if he had watched any new Tamil movies. The star instantly named ‘Western Ghats’ (Merku Thodarchi Malai), ’96’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘Kolamavu Kokila’, ‘Kaala’ and ‘Sarkar’. In his trademark style, Mammootty also took a sarcastic jibe saying that he watches films of other language heroes regularly but he is not sure if these heroes watches his films.
Now that ‘Peranbu’ is doing well, cinephiles are hoping that Mammootty does other language films more often. The actor meanwhile has another non-Malayalam film gearing up for release. His Telugu film ‘Yatra’, which is based on a historic episode from late Andhra Chief Minister’s life, is all set to hit screens this coming Friday (February đ.
