Mukesh Ambani launches new plans for Reliance Jio
Reliance Industries Ltd chairman Mukesh Ambani has announced that his telecom venture, Reliance Jio Info com Ltd, will start charging from its customers from 1 April. However, domestic voice calls to any network will be free across India.
Ambani in his speech listed Reliance Jio’s achievements in the last five months. He said that Jio has now crossed 100 million consumers across the country from 170 days of it’s launch. They have added seven customers per second in all these days.
Jio users during this period have consumed more than 100 Crore GB of data per month on the Jio network. That’s more than 3.3 Crore GB per day.
“When we started Jio and we set a target for ourselves in terms of saying that we will acquire a 100 million customers in the shortest time, even we didn’t imagine that we will do it in months in terms of that,” Ambani said.
The Jio Happy New Offer ends on March 31 and from April 1 onwards, data services are chargeable for Jio. They have also launched new programmes for continuing data services.
A custom-made programme Jio Prime Membership programme has been launched at an one time fee of Rs 99. It will be available only for current Jio customers and for those who subscribe to Jio before March 31, this year. This membership can be obtained through the My Jio app or by visiting any Jio-supported store.
The Jio Prime Members can get the use the unlimited services for only Rs 303 per month, that comes down to just Rs 10 per day. Jio Prime Members can continue enjoying the unlimited benefits
until 31st March 2018. This means unlimited data will be available for a price of Rs 303 per month for 12 months. Meanwhile, the voice calls will continue to be free.
Ambani added that Jio will match the highest selling tariff of other operators and provide 20% more data from what other operators provide.
