Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha Reigns at the Box Office: First Day Collection Report

Dulquer Salmaan, the iconic face of Mollywood recognized nationwide, has unleashed his latest cinematic marvel, “King of Kotha,” enthralling audiences across the globe. This gripping tale, a mass gangster drama, marks the directorial debut of Abhilash Joshiy and features a compelling screenplay by Abhilash N Chandran.

The film made its grand entrance on 500 screens throughout Kerala and an astounding 800 screens internationally. The magic of “King of Kotha” transcended linguistic boundaries, premiering in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu languages, solidifying its status as a remarkable Pan-Indian release. As anticipated, the movie’s immense pre-release buzz and expansive launch paved the way for an extraordinary box office opening on a global scale.

According to reports from esteemed trade analysts, “King of Kotha” amassed an impressive 17 crore rupees in worldwide collections on its inaugural day, securing its place as the fourth highest-grossing Mollywood opening day phenomenon on a global scale. The illustrious trio of Mohanlal’s “Marakkar” (20 crores+), Dulquer’s “Kuruppu” (19 crores), and Mohanlal’s “Odiyan” (18 crores+) occupy the top echelons of this list.

In Kerala, the film blazed a trail by garnering a remarkable opening-day revenue of over 6 crores, while overseas markets, especially in Gulf countries, resonated with its captivating narrative. Although the international market played a pivotal role in “King of Kotha’s” success, its Tamil and Telugu versions witnessed a relatively moderate start.

From UK it grossed around 68 lakhs on Day 1, where as USA contributed above 20 lakhs. Australia and New Zealand contributed 12 lakhs and 2 lakhs each to the total gross on the opening day. In Gulf countries, it managed to collect around 7 crores on Day 1.

With the extended Onam holidays on the horizon in Kerala, the movie is poised to achieve even greater feats in terms of box office numbers. Dulquer Salmaan’s devoted fans are optimistic that “King of Kotha” will swiftly ascend the ranks of the highest-grossing Malayalam films worldwide, etching its name in the annals of cinematic history. As the reign of “King of Kotha” continues, all eyes are on its journey to box office supremacy.
