Kerala Box Office: Baahubali 2 First Day Collection Report
After months of anticipation, SS Rajamouli’s action fantasy drama Baahubali 2 The Conclusion was released yesterday (April 28). The movie opened to stunning response from the audience across the globe. The movie is said to have released in over 10,000 screens worldwide with 6,500 of them in India alone.
In Kerala, the movie had a record release in a whopping 320 screens. According to official reports from trade sources, the movie had grossed around Rs 5.90 crore from the Kerala box office. This is a new record in the opening day figures in the Kerala box office. The movie has pipped the record of Mammootty starrer The Great Father which had grossed Rs 4.31 crores on the opening day. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali ranks second in the list of highest opening day grossers with Rs 4.20 crores followed by Mohanlal’s all time blockbuster Pulimurugan..
Baahuabli 2’s record was expected due to the unprecedented hype that the movie got prior to the release. Tickets were sold like hot cakes right after the bookings were opened and the weekend shows in most centres have already been booked house full.
Baahubali 2 The Conclusion was released simultaneously in four languages-Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. The combined box office figures on the opening day from all the four languages is estimated to be more than 100 crores. In Hindi alone the movie is reported to have grossed around 50 crores.
In Kerala, the movie was distributed by Global United Media, who had also released the first installment Baahubali: The Beginning in 2015.
