2.0 set to release in 56,000 screens in China
While 2.0 continues to do tremendous business in the domestic and major international centres like UK and US, the makers are planning for a mega release in China. As per statement release by Lyca Productions, the movie will be releasing in a whopping 56,000 screens in the country. Out of this, around 47,000 screens will release the film in 3D format.
“The dubbed and subtitled versions of 2.0 will release in 10,000 theatres – 56,000 screens out of which 47,000 will be in 3-D,” said Lyca Productions
If they manage to do so, it will be the widest 3D release for any foreign language film in history. The makers have associated with HY Media, one of China’s leading distributors.
Meanwhile, 2.0 is on a sensational run in India. While the Hindi version of the movie alone has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, the combined gross of all three languages (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) has gone past Rs 450 crores. Releasing in a record number of screens on November 29, the movie opened to phenomenal response, both in the Indian and overseas box office.
2.0 has been released in 2D and 3D format in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. Lyca Productions have invested a whopping Rs 600 crore, which easily makes it the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema. With such an extraordinary opening, the movie is most likely to continue it’s blockbuster run till the Christmas releases start occupying screens.
